Ala Moana Center

Led the design efforts as Senior Director of Design and Construction for Brookfield Properties Retail to create the overall design concept and vision for the redevelopment of this iconic retail center which included the renovation of the existing 2 million sf retail center, a 700,000 sf expansion and the expansion of the parking structure. RTKL/Callison Architects led the design and engineer of this complex project on a fully operation mall. Additional efforts included the coordinate the addition of a 215-unit ultra-luxury condominium development, Park Land Condominiums, on top of existing parking structures with joint venture partners, and the planning efforts for a multiphase future expansion of the center for an additional 8 hotel and condominium towers. This project has won national and international awards for its contextual design using local materials and design elements from native Hawaiian culture. It is a 5-story retail experience is now the world’s largest outdoor shopping center.
